Apollo 7/2010
Apollo is one handsome lug of a boy. Apollo's current owners purchased him from a couple in the city who both worked and no longer had time for him. He has been with his family since May of 2009. Apollo just turned 5 in April. He is not only gorgeous, but healthy as well! Apollo is looking for a new home because he has decided that he does not wish to share oxegen with the resident male Newfoundland that has been been with the family for over 6 years. Apollo's current momma loves him to death, but is afraid that if things escalate, one of her "boys" will be hurt. Apollo comes from a family very familiar with the proper care of a Bully gentleman, so he has had very good care. He was neutered upon his arrival in 5/09, and is current on all of his vaccinations. He is in very good shape, and his skin has been very healthy with his current diet and grooming regime.
Apollo needs a home in which he can be center stage. He does get along with 99 percent of the dogs that he meets. He is fine with children and people of all ages. He sometimes try to hump small children, though is very responsive to correction. For this reason Apollo will only be placed with a family that has children over 12. Apollo needs a family with a nice house and yard. While a fence is not a must, it would be a big plus.
Even though the big boy is good with other dogs, we will only place him in a home with an easy going female of the same size or bigger, to ensure there are no personality conflicts. He should be fed separately from other dogs, as he does love his food and will inhale it in seconds flat. Apollo has a silly, easy going personality. He may try to hump new dogs he meets, but with the proper correction, he will cease and desist. Apollo enjoys short walks-a mile or so-in moderate weather. He, as with other bulldogs, will overheat very easily and cannot swim. He must have a life jacket on if he is ever off leash around water. He brain tells him he is buoyant, but his structure disagrees.
Apollo needs a family in which someone willl not be gone more than 4-5 hours per day. he bonds deeply with his main caregiver, and loves to snuggle. His activity level is moderate to low. He is usually a big speed bump. He is on a diet of Eagle Pack holistic lamb and rice, which agrees with his tummy and his skin. He must have his folds, ears and tail cleaned out every day and be bathed with an antimicrobial shampoo every two weeks. While Apollo is a very healthy bulldog, keep in mind that no bullldog is inexpensive to maintain. They require the proper diet, grooming, vigilance and training regime.
If you think you can provide a wonderful forever home for this boy, please apply! Please note: all his applications and screening will be done by his current owner and not our rescue. He will also be adopted out directly from the owner, not the rescue.
Apollo's adoption fee is $300
