Meet Drake, this handsome little guy will look deep into your eyes and try to steal your soul with his charming ways! But first, he will plaster you with kisses because he loves you! I hope that you aren’t the jealous type though because this fiery, little Aries loves everyone equally! Drake will turn 2 years old on April 24th.
Drake came into rescue due to changing family circumstances for his humans but don’t feel sad for him, he’s looking forward not backwards! He’s ready to find his forever family and to wiggle his way into your heart.
He is currently recovering nicely from nare surgery, being neutered and, is up to date on vaccines. He did have some skin allergies at intake but that is being managed well with a change of diet (no chicken) and some meds. His sutures will come out on 3/3. Until then his foster is trying to keep this bundle of energy calm and quiet which is a challenge because he is ready for action and PLAY! He has been a very good boy in his crate though and sleeps through the night.
Prior to his surgery he was walking very well on a leash (his walks are currently restricted but are ok to resume once his sutures are removed). He seems to get along great with other dogs and children but, he will need some help managing his interactions until he learns that playtime has to come to an end and learning personal boundaries.
This boy is incredibly smart, observant, and learns fast. He understands the word STAY and SIT but has to be reminded frequently. He redirects well and responds to positive reinforcement. He is also very treat motivated!
He is almost completely potty trained. This will be better determined after he comes off of some of the medications that he is on that make him thirstier and have to urinate more than normal. It would be best to plan on needing to work/observe this going forward. He is alerting while in his crate that he needs to go but at times the foster misunderstood his whining for just wanting some attention.
Drake is a very happy dog and will bring lots of joy to anyone that is willing to help him continue to thrive in his next chapter.
Drake will be getting his sutures out March 3rd and then will be ready to find his forever home -so we are accepting applications for him now. His adoption fee is $1100- all of his vetting is current and microchipped- comes with two months supply of Simaprica trio for Heartworm and flea/tick preventative care. He also comes with a bed- leash and harness and some of his current food-he eats purina pro plan sensitive skin and stomach.
