Meet Jackson- he was found and kept by the Bellwood police department for his stray hold, and no one ever claimed him, and they reached out to us to take him in. He is a young boy- our vets are guessing somewhere between 1 and 1 1/2 years old.
We can tell you that Jackson never had anyone teach him manners- as he loves to jump up on people and counter tops. The good news is he is a smart boy and wants to learn and is food motivated. We are working on the command off for his jumping on people and he is slowly coming around with that. He also is learning sit, and we would say 85% of the time, he gets that command and is starting to sit when he meets people to get loved on.
He is very much a puppy and has a lot of energy. He is a tall boy and weighs 35 lbs-hence the reason he can get on counters! Jackson will need someone who will continue to work with his manners and give him structure. Since he is a big boy and likes to jump on people- no children under the age of 15. He is working on his crate training as is doing much better with his potty training as well. He has learned stairs as well while in foster care. It seems like much of what Jackson has encountered while in foster care is new to him and he is learning as we move along with his care.
He is a healthy boy, has been neutered- vaccines are up to date- microchipped and fecal and heartworm negative. He walks really nicely on a leash and enjoys a good run in a fenced yard. If you are looking for a young, healthy frenchie boy with really long legs that needs to learn structure and rules and can provide him with that training- he is the ideal boy for you.
He is good with other dogs BUT he is still in the stage of wanting to hump other dogs a LOT-so please take that into consideration before applying for him. He also will cry for the first hour in his crate when crated at night-so apartment living might not be ideal for him. Jackson has had to learn a lot while in foster care and is looking for the ideal forever home that will continue to work with his boy on his manners. If you are that person, we can promise you- he will make someone a very loving frenchie who loves to be loved on and wants to learn and give him a chance to thrive.
Jackson’s adoption fee is $1100 and comes with his leash, harness, current food-( purina pro plan salmon), bed, blanket, and 2 months of HW and flea preventative.
