Manny

male - young
Status: adopted

Meet Manny, an adorable two-year old French Bulldog who’s small in stature but large in personality. Always the center of attention, Manny immediately changes the energy in every room he enters—in the best way possible. His mission in life is to love and be loved, which is apparent every time he meets a new dog or human. He’s eager to please, incredibly affectionate, and looking for a forever home to curl up in, surrounded by treats and squeaker toys, where he can doze in the afternoon sun. Manny would do great in a house with another dog or cat, or even as an only child. In fact, he seems like he could adapt to almost any situation, since his only real requirement is a steady stream of ear scratches and tummy rubs.

In terms of development, Manny needs to work on his leash skills. He loves long walks, but is largely led by his nose, which takes him all over the place. He would benefit greatly by having someone work with him on walking with a loose leash, without pulling, and learning to heel when other dogs and people pass. Also, while Manny is both house and crate trained, he doesn’t like to be left alone, and tends to whine and cry when left by himself. His new owner will need to work with him on becoming more independent. Because of this, he might not be right for a small condo with close neighbors, especially if his new owner plans on being gone a lot. The right owner for Manny is someone who’s willing to put in the time to help him overcome these tendencies, and who’s willing to spend a good deal of time with him. Someone who works from home will be ideal, and someone with a partner, or children, to share the responsibility would be great.

Manny understands the commands “sit,” “stay,” and “shake,” and is treat-motivated, which indicates that he’s indeed trainable. As a younger dog, he’s got a fair amount of energy, but since he’s so small, it doesn’t take much to wear him out. Managing his liveliness through walks and free play will be key to his success.

In the next chapter of Manny’s life, he’s looking to settle down, settle in, and do what he does best—make your life whole.
