Hi, my name is Poppy and I am looking for my forever home.  I was rescued by CFBD after I was dumped at a shelter as a stray and no one ever came looking for me. I was skin and bones and much to the surprise of the shelter- I pooped an Eeyore children’s sock the first few days there and then the day before my stray hold was up at the shelter- I puked out a Winnie the pooh sock! Once at my foster home, I threw up a small woman’s sock as well and spent the day at the vet to make sure there were no more socks hidden inside of me. I have been spayed, and all my vaccines are up to date. Tested negative for HW and my fecal was negative too. The shelter thought I might need hip surgery and patella surgery but when our vet did x rays and an exam, the hip looked good and the patellas did not luxate at all, but something her new home should be aware of. Our vet feels as she gains weight and muscles, she should have no issues with either moving forward hopefully. The doctor thinks I am only a year old, so I am still a baby. I am a little dog, only 18 pounds and not very tall. My foster mom says I am a very good patient.

At my foster home, I have recovered very well from the socks I was hiding in my tummy and recovered nicely from my spay surgery and I eat really well and slowly gaining weight. I am extremely food motivated, which is great for teaching me new tricks and commands.  I am working on my potty training, so I need a forever home that can be patient and understanding and help me with that area.  I walk really well on a leash and I know the commands sit, ick, drop it, and NO. I love to play with balls and I am learning fetch. I love to chew on benebones.  I love to be next to anyone in my foster family. I will snuggle with anyone that will snuggle me. Currently, I live with my foster sisters. I am very jealous of them. They get to sleep on the couch, and I have to sleep at night in my crate. My foster mom says that’s the rule but I am sure I would LOVE to sleep with my new family if they would let me!

In my perfect forever home, I would have a fenced in the backyard to play and run in. I would love another Frenchie sister, but that is not required. My forever family would have someone that stays home or works from home and is able to have a consistent schedule. I love children but think I would do well with someone 8 years old and older.  I need someone that is patient and kind and will help me learn the schedule that I need to keep. I have a high prey drive, meaning if there is a bunny, I want it so no cats in my new home please. I am very smart and a very fast runner, so you need to keep a close eye on me, so I don’t get lost again!   I am so friendly that I would be an excellent dog that goes to work with you.

If you are interested in becoming my forever family, please fill out the application. My foster family is happy to answer any questions you may have.
